Islands 

මන්කුලිය සහ මූනක්කරය යනු මුලින්ම දූපත් දෙකක් ලෙස තිබුනි.මන්කුලිය පිරවුම්හල  අසල ඇති බෝක්කුවේ සිට ශාන්ත මාර්ටින් පාර දිගේ මූනක්කරයට ආසන්න ස්ථානයක් දක්වා විහිදුණු කලපුවෙන් පටන්ගත් දියමඟකින් මෙම දූපත් දෙක වෙන් වී තිබුණි. කෙසේ වෙතත්, අද වන විට ඒවා එකම ගොඩබිමක් වී තිබේ. එමෙන්ම, දූව ද අතීතයේදී තනි දූපතක් ලෙස පැවති අතර, වර්තමානයේදී එය පිටිපන වීදියට එකසේ යා වී ඇත.

Mankuliya and Munakkara were originally two separate islands divided by a waterway that stretched from the culvert near the Mankuliya petrol shed to a point close to Munakkara along St. Martin’s Road. Today, however, they form a single landmass. Similarly, Duwa was once a separate island as well, even though it is now seamlessly connected to Pitipana Veediya.
